"The John Deere 4010 was only in production from 1960 to 1963, but during this short time span, it managed to leave a lasting mark on the company and customers alike. It offered many upgrades that had never been seen before and likely inspired other manufacturers to strive for better when designing their own tractors. Today, it is reflected upon fondly as a key piece of Deereās foundation." (quote from: https://blog.machinefinder.com/33288/reflecting-on-the-greatness-of-the-john-deere-4010-tractor"
This dainty small model is in excellent condition, though I have no original box for it. Just researching it has raised my respect for this particular tractor. Reading the blog.machinefinder.com article about the history of these models helps to understand why so many farmers are very loyal to this particular brand and model.
It was a row-crop tractor, made in the factories at Waterloo, Iowa, (USA), and in Mexico. The original price was $5,500 in 1963.
John Deere 4010 had a transmission 8-speed, partially synchronized. There were also two variants; the 4019=0 ag tractor, and/or a 4010 Wheel industrial tractor. So the 4010 could be focused for farm work, or for industrial/factory work.
As for its mechanical features, it had a two-wheel drive, steering power assist, differential hydraulic wet disc brakes, and an open operation station - that the driver's seat and controls but without a cab or canopy overhead to protect from the elements.
