This special Cadillac Escalade "New School" model is one of a Limited Edition run of 30,000 by HotWheels, and designed by the Whips-Team Baurtwell. (Hmm...! 30,000 must mean it was a very popular edition in the early 2000s!) I understand it is considered a "Rare-Vintage" from 2003.
The back of the card explains that Funkmaster Flex was hip-hop's most successful and influential D.J. But he was a car fanatic even more than he liked to spin music records. Flex's passion for cars spun him off into another career.
Flex became the founder of Team Baurtwell, and worked with Glen Hazim Custom Car Works to bring some of the dreams of his music friends to life in paint, leather and other details of special sports cars. By collecting the Team Baurtwell designs you get to experience the rush Flex and his friends got from these car designs.
This 1:64 Scale metal collector's model is no longer made by Matel Toys, so when you find one, you ought to hang onto it. Eventually, about 29,999 in this collection will be lost, or played with to their death, and you might end up with the last one left!
My brother Tom had two of these in excellent condition, sealed and good as new! I think $12 for each seems fair enough. (I saw one for $149!)
However, if you are buying for a child, their age should be 8 and more. This model is all-metal, so you really don't want younger children biting on them. The little gold Cadillac Escalade SUV would probably survive, but ...not so sure about that kid.
