Deutz-Allis was a company formed when Deutz-Fahr of Germany, part of KHD, purchased the agricultural assets of the Allis-Chalmers corporation in 1985. Deutz-Allis was eventually sold to the Allis-Gleaner Corporation, or AGCO), in 1990.
The Deutz-Allis company and name was created when Deutz-Fahr of Germany purchased the Allis-Chalmers company of Milwaukee, WI, USA in 1985. Deutz-Fahr was owned by Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD) at that time. One of the first things KHD did was change the color of almost all tractors, implements and Deutz-Allis Gleaner combines (stripes) to the Deutz-green. Only the larger 8000 and 9000 series tractors remained Allis Persian orange. Deutz engines soon dominated the line-up as well as the tractor designs. A few were merely Deutz-Fahr tractors with the Deutz-Allis name.
To eavesdrop when farmers talk about this tractor you will hear a variety of opinions. Some will rave about how stable and reliable this tractor is, and others will complain of many expensive repairs that made them regret buying the tractor.
In my research I found that this tractor won Tractor of the Year in 1987 at the Minnesota State Fair. Another seller describes it as winning that award in 1990. In fact, several sites mention this later year. So perhaps that is more true?
Prices for this model do vary, generally from $8 to $35 and less or more either way. I'm settling for the $8.00 price. It does not have the original packaging.
This bright green little Deutz Allis Tractor model does look rather cute, doesn't it?
