The John Deere Model D tractor was a large standard tractor produced by John Deere from 1923 to 1953. Unlike other John Deere letter-series tractors, it kept the "D" designation throughout production, and never changed to a number designation. The D had the longest model run of any John Deere tractor. (Wikipedia)
May 30, 2023, marked 100 years since production of the first John Deere Model D tractor in Waterloo. Waterloo produced the Model D tractors for 30-years, the longest tractor production run in John Deere history. Production of the Model 'D' began on May 30, 1923 and ended in 1953, with introduction of the Model R.
It was a standard tread tractor with fixed wheel widths, as opposed to the adjustable wheels of a row-crop tractor.
The popular demand was so high that in 1953 when production had officially ended Deere decided to build one last run. The tractors were built in the street right outside the production building. These tractors became known as “Streeters” by collectors.
John Deere was a pioneer of a product quality once saying, “I will never put my name on a product that does not have in it the best that is in me.”
This model D appears to be in perfect condition, but since I don't have any original packaging or documents, I'll sell this for $30.00 Cdn. instead of the the prices I've seen for $40 - 50.
