This AXIAL Flow International Harvester Combine with a Corn Header represents a popular era in combines for harvesting large fields on big American and Canadian farms.
International first launches some combines for harvest work in 1968. By 1977, they had put in some major efforts on design and engineering. They started releasing their 1400 series, with each succeeding model number becoming more advanced. In 1982 they had a big one, (the 1482), which was to be pulled behind a tractor with PTO functions.
In 1985 the International Harvester and Case Corp merged. Their new combines became the 1600 series, and got better and better! If this is a 1640 model, as I have supposed, it is one of those. The model numbers that followed just became more powerful and simply modern wonders for big farm harvesting.
The "1640" is not on this model directly, but in researching these on different sites, I have sort of concluded that it looks most like the 1640 model in the 1/32 scale. However, researching again today, I now think it may be an even earlier model. Perhaps one of the 1400s. It does have the number 2674G stamped underneath. But that has not helped me find it online yet.
I've seen one online that definitely has 1640 imprinted on the black stripe with the brand name, INTERNATIONAL on it, but that one has more features on top and in back of the model, which leads me to suggest this may be an earlier, more vintage model.
However, since this an unboxed model, I shall let it go for a bargain price of $20.00. You may discover the exact model and find you have a tremendous bargain.
(If it has not already sold, there is also one for sale on this site that has a grain header.)
